Happy Father's Day

ree

Despite appearances, many fathers possess the “tough it out” mindset and hold on their shoulders the pressure to be the rock, provider, and protector of the family. This mindset forms the core foundation for many men when developing their views on fatherhood. There will be days when the weight of being “SUPER DAD” can be too heavy, even for the toughest of fathers. Truth is, dads often carry far more than they can handle alone – holding together a struggling marriage and a family on the verge of collapse, secretly battling addictions, carrying the financial burden for the family, holding on to guilt and shame for past decisions and failures, and other challenges; all the while suppressing their feelings to avoid showing any weaknesses. Fathers need grace, support, and prayers!

If this is you, there is good news, dad! You do not have to carry these burdens alone. God's strength is made perfect in weakness. In Isaiah 41:13 there is a promise you can bank on: “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”

God, thank you for the gift of fathers. We know that this role is not always easy and requires your guidance. So today, I lift fathers to you. I pray that you give them strength, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment. I pray that they turn to You and lean on You, remembering You are their very present help and are with them every step of the way. Let them know that you are the Father of the “turn around,” and it is not too late to be the father you desire them to be. I pray that they will seek You in all areas of their lives. Help them not to fear, but to rest on your promise that you will hold them by the hand and guide them through every situation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Saved to Serve,

Pastor Keith
