Pentecost is the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and other believers in Jerusalem. It was the unexpected yet anticipated moment when the Apostles caught fire and God’s loving church began. It was the beginning of something new. Pentecost was also a time of transformation which could be seen in the significant shift in the lives of the Apostles. The Holy Spirit empowered them with new abilities, courage, and a renewed understanding of their mission, leading to profound transformation.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the miracles happen. What may seem impossible can be made possible, and it is the work of the Holy Spirit. Our lives, our families, our church, and our community are in need of a Pentecost today. The times of refreshing have not passed us by forever because God is still the same God, and He still works in supernatural and sovereign ways to accomplish His will in the world. What may seem impossible to us is possible to God.
In the story of the prophet Ezekiel, we can see how a transformation took place with the help of the Lord. Ezekiel lived and prophesied during a difficult period of time. God used Ezekiel to give God's people comforting news while in exile: that a day would come when God would revive them, that He would transform them from a dead state to being made alive.
In the valley of the dry bones, God gave Ezekiel the vision of the dry bones as a sign. From this vision we learn that even though the mission may seem impossible:
God can restore (vv.1-6),
God can revive (vv. 7-10), and
God can resurrect. (vv. 11-14)
The people of God’s only role was to remain obedient. God did the rest. Each day, work to be obedient and watch God deliver a Pentecost. He will put the muscle and skin on the bones. He will breathe life into that which had been dead and dry. The mission is not impossible but possible because with God all things are possible.
