The Word of God: God's Route for Us

ree

I remember hearing about Route 66 in an old jazz classic by the King Cole Trio:

"If you ever plan to motor west; Travel my way, take the highway that's the best; Get your kicks on Route 66."

After moving to Springfield, IL, Jackie and I discovered we live only a few blocks from this historic route.

This famous stretch of highway ran from Chicago to Los Angeles, spanning 2,448 miles across eight states. It's a symbol of American freedom and adventure, and while it no longer exists as a single numbered highway, much of the original route is still drivable.

The Bible provides the ultimate route for the believer. Within its pages is the path to salvation and freedom. It's filled with instructions, guidance, wisdom, and hope to help us in our everyday lives. It is our sword of the Spirit, our powerful weapon against spiritual attacks and lies. God's Word is incorruptible and lasts forever. It illuminates our way with a light that never fades and never goes out. Not to knock the historical Route 66 or the jazz classic written about it, but I'm inspired to use its melody in a new way:

"If you ever plan to have eternal rest, travel Christ's way, the Gospel way, it's the best; just live by the B-I-B-L-E!"

Saved to Serve,

Pastor Keith
